COVID-19 numbers coming in this week show the United States in a decline for both number of new cases and deaths.

Totals ending the week of September 13 were down 15% from the prior weeks numbers.

Down from July Peak

The United States hit a peak during July with an average of 70,000 new cases per day.  Approximately 35,000 new cases per day last week marks the eighth straight week of declines for the United States.

COVID-19 numbers vary around the country.  Averages are coming in lower, though some states have seen a recent increase in total cases reported.

Positive Test Averages Decline

During the July peak, around 800,000 people were tested per day.  Last week’s numbers show an average of 650,000 people were tested.

The total numbers of positive tests coming back last week fell for the sixth week in a row to 5.4%
