We found some tips to help make trailering toys to your adventures safer.

Living in and around the mountains, we have lots of chances to explore trails, and off highway roads.  Often, we need to use a tow vehicle to transport or atv’s and utv’s to the trails and backroads.  

Setting up your trailer, hitch, and distributing your load correctly are all important to maintaining a safe drive, and ensuring you reach it to your destination worry free.  

If you tow your adventure vehicles, or anything else; these are some good things to keep in mind.

Towing your ATV’s & UTV’s

  • Check that weight distribution, left to right, and front to back!
  • New to trailering?  Practice on secluded roads if available.
  • On longer drives, pull over frequently and check your load, trailer, connections, etc.
  • Make sure you’re using the right equipment!  Hitches, receiver, weight ratings for these plus your vehicle and trailer are all important to understand.
  • Connect your lights properly, and be sure tail lights, brakes, and blinkers are all working before hitting the road.
  • Check those tires!  Proper inflation is critical to towing safely, and old or dry rotted tires should be considered for replacement.
  • Increase your following distance behind vehicles on the road!
