Medicare Part B covers bone mass measurement

Keep your bones strong as you age with some handy guidelines.

Take Action to Protect Your Bones

Lots of people don’t know they have osteoporosis until they break a bone.  Certain factors put folks at risk of osteoporosis.  A doctor can discuss your risk, and can prescribe  a bone mass measurement to check on things.

With Medicare Part B, coverage for one bone mass measurement is available every 24 months.

There are ways to keep bones strong, even as we age.

How Can I Keep My Bones Strong?

The National Institute on Aging offers these tips:

  • Eat foods that support bone health.  Think vitamins, low-fat dairy, leafy greens, fish, and veggies…
  • Get and/or Stay Active!  Strength training, walking, hiking, jogging, climbing stairs, and more!
  • Don’t Smoke.
  • Alcohol in Moderation.  Or not at all.
